Volunteers Barnsley Hospital Broadcasting

BHB is a not for profit voluntary organisation, all the people at the station are volunteers who give up their time on a regular basis to run the station.

A volunteer at the station does not just mean sitting and playing a few of your favorite records. If you want to be a presenter you will undertake ward request collecting duties shadowing a current presenter first, you will then be trained up on the equipment and alloctaed a time slot as and when you have passed the training course.

There is much more to BHB than just presenting though, if all you want to do is help out then you can just collect requests, we have former active volunteers who just help with fundraising. The biggest thing you have to give is your committment, BHB requires of you a regular commitment of 2-3 hours per week, usually one evening on a regular basis.

So you still want to join or find out a bit more? The next step is to download an application form here, return this to us. You will then be contacted for an informal interview and look around. This is an oppertunity for us both to get an idea about suitability. The next step is to get references, an interview with the Trusts Voluntary Services Manager and a possible occupational health check and a CRB (Criminal Records Check).. When all thats done - youve made it.
