Welcome to the Website of the Friends of Barnsley Hospitals Association.

The Association, a registered charity, was formed in 1981 and works to raise funds to benefit the patients and staff at all hospitals in Barnsley.

Events are organised by our committee and further assistance is given by our helpers. All are volunteers.

Over £230,000 has been raised since the group started and fund raising continues apace through sale days in one of the hospital shops, the staff lottery, collecting tins in the coffee shops and donations.

Our largest recent donation was £10,000 towards a further pair of ‘Squeezy Pants’ in the cardiology department.

Now that the hospital shops, in the new Outpatient department, are up and running again look out for our sale days during the year (See Meetings page for forthcoming dates).  Donations of books, bric-a-brac or tombola prizes are welcome.

The Hospital’s Staff Lottery is open to any member of staff working at either Barnsley Hospital or NHS Barnsley – contact your payroll dept for more details.

The Committee meets approximately two weeks prior to our sale days when requests for support are discussed and a decision made as to whether we are able to support the donation requested.
